Project Example - Maintenance Savings
Site - Private Office Complex
Location - Reading ,Berkshire
Client - Building management company
The above site was receiving a poor level of customer service from its original maintenance provider, who was regularly over charging them for maintenance and repairs.
The fire alarm system installed on site was of a managed protocol type, with spares only being available from a very limited number of outlets. A number of intermittent faults were present on the fire alarm system and the original provider had recommended that a new system was required. This would have course incurred a major cost to the client.
A service agreement was undertaken on the system by us and when the intermittent faults re occurred a Multi-tech engineer attended on a callout. During the callout visit the engineer traced the faults to a couple of loose connections on the field wiring. Once these connections were tightened the panel remained clear of the faults and no longer required replacement.
Over the first year of the contract period, it was noted that a number of the detectors were being affected by dust build up, in several site locations. The previous provider had been known to replace these detectors at regular intervals at considerable cost to the client. The Multi-tech solution was to incorporate more engineering time into the maintenance schedule to enable monitoring and cleaning of the relevant detectors.
This solution proved to be more economical for the client as it reduced the number of callouts for the system and the need for detector replacement considerably. The contract with this client has now been in place for 2-3 years with only a handful of detectors being replaced during this period.
This site currently has the following items covered by a Multi-tech Service contract:
Fire Alarm System, Extinguishers and CCTV System.
